"I started seeing Barbra 4 years ago for TMJ (a jaw disorder), and I still see her about once a month. Not only did she help me relieve all the pain and symptoms from my jaw disorder, but she approaches healing the body as a whole, and I always feel rejuvenated and healthy after leaving the studio."
Emily B. “I am very particular in choosing a practitioner who will be working on my body as I have fibromyalgia, multiple trigger points, and myofascial pain. I’ve been coming to see Barbra for Shiatsu for the last 7 years and I couldn’t be more pleased. She is knowledgeable, grounded, and adept at her art. She encourages me to be a participant in my own treatment through open communication and feedback. The one hour I spend with Barbra is the most relaxing time of my day, I wish I could go more often.” Teresa R. “I was a bit skeptical about acupuncture but no longer. It really helped my knee and shoulder pain and the combination of shiatsu and acupuncture are particularly relaxing and effective. Chinese herbs have helped my stomach problems as well.” John S. “Barbra has been our shiatsu therapist for almost twenty years. I have recommended her to many friends and will continue to do so. Linda K. “I prefer to work with professionals who have 20 years of experience or more because I like it when someone has deeply honed their skills -- and that is Barbra Esher. She is a master in the gift of healing. Her passion, knowledge, joyous openness and amazing presence bring a yin/yang balance and connection to her client’s Spiritual journey. I have had wonderful healings, and so have my friends and family I’ve referred to her. I cannot say enough about Barbra’s deep dedication to holistic healing and optimum wellness.” Hope G. "I went to Barbra for over a year for shiatsu massage to help with stress reduction and what I received was much, much more than just massage. She served as a healer, energy worker, adviser and friend - all with deep humility, professionalism and respect." Lori W. “For over 10 years I have been visiting with Barbra and she always greets me with her wonderful smile and willingness to help with the various and sundry aliments of life. But more than that she has been someone I can depend on to listen and understand what is going on in all aspects of my life and translate that into a treatment not just for my physical health but mentally as well. It's not just about the acupuncture for which she is highly skilled and intuitive, but about someone who cares. “ Chris B. "Barbra Esher's extensive knowledge of body energy combined with compassion helped rapidly to heal a debilitating overuse injury many years ago. Ever since, her no-nonsense treatments have been integral to maintaining my overall health and wellness." Marcia H. “ I visit Barbra Esher monthly. She resolves problems, old and new. She shares a sense of peace and calm.” Carol S. “I honestly don't remember the synchronicity of events that allowed me to find Barbra Esher soon after moving to Baltimore 15 years ago. What I know is that I will be forever grateful that I did find her. Barbra truly is a Master at her work. Her mix of sheer skill, intellectual knowledge and understanding, and strong intuition makes her use of shiatsu and acupuncture uncanny in its effectiveness. She senses what is hurting or tight even without my directing her to the area, and she is able to address the specific disease, as well as my system's imbalance simultaneously. Much of my time with Barbra has been focused on general relaxation, healing minor injuries, detoxifying, and basic tune-ups. However, in 2009 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo surgery and chemotherapy. In 2011, I experienced a recurrence, which involved more surgery and radiation treatments. I have a wonderful allopathic medical team that worked on me throughout this time, and still diligently do follow up visits. I knew that I wanted and needed more than what they could offer. I was stressed, terrified, grief-stricken, and angry at different points in time. I was lethargic, sore, stiff, not sleeping, and having digestive problems over the course of the treatments. Barbra's shiatsu and acupuncture treatments took on a whole different meaning for me. These treatments helped me heal. Barbra's treatments helped me endure, and sometimes avoid the side effects that often come with standard cancer treatment. I always let my allopathic medical team know what I was doing; some supported and encouraged, some thought I was wasting my time and money, but none of them stood in the way. I know how I felt going into Barbra's room and how I felt coming out. I know how my friends and family reacted to my ability to cope and even thrive through all of this. And, I know that Barbra's skilled treatments, her wit, her wisdom, her ability to listen without judgement, her encouragement, her grounded inspiration, and her presence played a major role in finding physical, emotional, and spiritual balance points during this journey. “ Kim E. “I'm a mature man (60ish) and spent many of my earlier years testing my body to it's limits with wrestling, weight lifting, football at the collegiate level, tournament level racquetball, and now catch-as-catch-can exercising at the local athletic club. Back in those years, they didn't have the coaching knowledge to instruct an athlete in the proper ways of strengthening. As a result, I have varying degrees of arthritis in my neck, lower back, and left hip along with some digestive problems brought on by the stress of working long hours for over 36 years with the same company. My traditional doctors are glad to provide me prescriptions for all my aches and pains, but I wanted to try alternative treatments to avoid drug therapy if possible. I've been using a combination of shiatsu/acupuncture and targeted herbal remedies to help control my issues. My physical problems took a long time to evolve and for me to finally accept so I don't expect any alternative therapy treatment to solve them overnight. However, I've been very please with my progress to date using alternative treatments. I seldom take any pain medication anymore and only after I've over-exerted myself. My initial objective was to manage the pain but I've discovered another benefit as well. I feel a sense of calm and relaxation I've ever felt before. I'll continue in the natural path to healing as long as I can!! John H. |
